👕 The Wardrobe
The Wardrobe at 715 Park Avenue has a particularly long connection to Columbia. The organization describes itself as an all-volunteer nonprofit and marked its 50th anniversary in 2020. It sells donated clothing and other items, with profits supporting a shoe-coupon program for Boone County schoolchildren.
So while you're hunting for something for your own closet, your purchase can also help put new shoes on local kids.

🏠 Show-Me Central Habitat for Humanity ReStore
The Show-Me Central Habitat ReStore at 1305 Business Loop 70 East takes the hunt beyond clothing.
Like other Habitat ReStores, the Columbia location offers new and gently used donated items such as furniture, appliances, home accessories and building materials, with the resale model helping support Habitat's housing work.
This one is especially worth remembering when you're decorating, renovating, furnishing a rental or looking for a DIY project.

🛍️ MERS Goodwill — Columbia
Columbia's MERS Goodwill retail store is located at 1405 Grindstone Parkway and offers the familiar thrift-store mix of donated clothing, home goods and other secondhand merchandise.
There is also a neat connection back to thrift-store history here: Goodwill's model began in 1902 with donated items being repaired and resold while creating employment opportunities. MERS Goodwill continues to describe its regional mission as changing lives through the power of work.
